Before western New York Republicans can fill the vacancy for Congressman Chris Collins' seat, four of the eight local GOP leaders in Orleans, Ontario, Erie, and Niagara counties must first be re-elected to party leadership roles.
That's according to our Buffalo affiliate WGRZ.
This has the potential to further delay replacement decisions for several days after the primary.
Collins was hit last month with felony fraud charges for alleged insider trading.
Republicans have been scrambling to replace him on the November ballot since Collins suspended his re-election campaign.
