NEWARK, N.Y. (WHEC) — National Nurse's Week is wrapping up. For the past several days, News10NBC has been showcasing local nurses and the great work they do.

Tim Lannon is a nurse at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, a part of Rochester Regional Health. He works in the psychiatric unit — a challenging, but rewarding job.

"That's probably the most rewarding part of the job, being there when they are at their weakest," said Lannon. "This is kind of an ICU for mental health, is how I describe our unit. They come in, they are in crisis, and we're trying to stabilize them and get them into outpatient services they might not have known about."

Lannon's coworkers say he is a force on the unit who not only stand out for the care he provides, but the comfort he brings to patients during difficult times.

"It's very key to their recovery, developing that relationship," he said. "They have to be able to trust you and that's a big part of our role, developing that trust with patients.

Lannon is a graduate of Newark High School and is thankful to be back home doing what he loves.

Thank you, Tim Lannon, for all that you do!
