BATAVIA, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two suspected shoplifters in Batavia took the axiom that you can't eat just one Reese's Peanut Butter Cup to the extreme on Tuesday.

Police say they responded to Tops around 11 a.m. and chased the duo, who had ran off from the store with $75 worth of Peanut Butter Cups.

The man and women were seen running through yards in the area, but ultimately they returned to the scene of the crime: the police put an end to the candy caper right back in the Tops parking lot.

Police found several packages of Reese's near a nearby pool and also took them back to the store.

The suspects are now facing petit larceny charges.
