Dr. Kenneth Eastwood's appointment as distinguished educator to the New York State Department of Education has been rescinded according to a statement from the school board.

Friday New York State commissioner of Education Mary Ellen Elia rescinded the appointment after Eastwood and the school board could not come to an agreement on the terms of his contract.

Dr. Eastwood was to be considered a consultant to the district. As apart of his position he was set to serve as a non-voting, ex-officio member on the school district's Board of Education.

Within the first 45 days of his appointment, the distinguished educator will develop an action plan with goals and objectives for the district for the 2018-19 school year.

Dr. Eastwood told News10NBC he feels the Rochester City School District Superintendent and the NYSED Commissioner have the best interest of the district in mind.
