ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — If you rode your bike to work on Friday morning you got a little surprise.
Reconnect Rochester gave away free bagels and coffee to cyclists passing through the intersection of East Avenue and Union Street.
Organizers say they do this twice a year to show kindness, reward people for biking, and to encourage others to do the same.
There's no end to the benefits of cycling," said cycling coordinator Jesse Peers. "Whether you want better health, you want better finances, you want to reduce your carbon footprint, you just want to get more active in your community and get to know your city more. So, there's no end to the benefits of getting on a bike."
Reconnect Rochester is a non-profit focused on transportation equity in the region. The organization has been involved with advocacy when it comes to bike lanes in the city.
