Remains found in South Carolina

September 27, 2015 04:44 PM

Sheriff’s deputies in South Carolina say they've launched an investigation after human remains were found in Charleston County last week.

According to our affiliate in Myrtle Beach, the remains were found Friday in the town of Awendaw that's about 70 miles south of Myrtle Beach.

That’s where Chili teen Brittanee Drexel went missing during spring break more than six years ago. We're told no other identifying traits are available for the remains.

We spoke with Drexel's mother Saturday night on the phone she tells law enforcement has not contacted her.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Brittanee Drexel you're asked to call 911.
