ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — State lawmakers are considering a bill that would cancel rent payments during the outbreak.

The legislation would waive rent for both residential and small business tenants for the next three months.

The measure would also waive mortgage payments for landlords.

If passed, the state would have to set guidelines for who would qualify.
