A fourth-year computing engineering technology major at the Rochester Institute of Technology and her father face murder charges in the death of the student’s mother in Corning.

Corning Police announced the arrests of Kerrie Neurauter, 20, and Lloyd Neurauter, 45. Lloyd is the ex-husband of the victim.

Michele Neurauter died in August, but investigators made another search of her home on Wednesday.

Police arrested Kerrie Neurauter in her Syracuse apartment. Officers found Lloyd Neurauter in Princeton, New Jersey, where they report he threatened to jump off of a parking garage. He eventually surrendered to police.

Kerrie Neurauter faced a judge Thursday morning and is being held tonight in the Steuben County Jail. Lloyd Neurauter is awaiting extradition.

"There are still additional witnesses to be interviewed," said Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker. "There is additional information to be gathered. And talking about motive at this stage, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But it is clear there was some motivation here."

Police did not disclose what led up to Michele Neurauter’s death in press releases.
