ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Rochester Area Crime Stoppers hosted the annual "Meet The K-9s" event Thursday where local police agencies got to show off their four-legged partners.
This was an opportunity for local agencies to say thank you to Rochester Area Crime Stoppers and other donors.
The Crime Stoppers K-9 Initiative started in 2014. It offers financial support with veterinary expenses, equipment and supplies.
The fund distributed almost $8,000 in 2018 to local K-9 units.
"Dogs are a vital resource to law enforcement and such a resource to law enforcement, whether they're protecting the K-9 handler or searching for a suspect who has done a crime in our community or searching for someone's loved one who may be missing," said Deputy Chief La'Ron Singletary.
If you would like to donate, there are jars at local businesses such as CountryMax, Texas BBQ and Bagel Land.
