News10NBC wanted to look at how Rochester's former "Big Three" compare to the current biggest employers in our area.

Back in 1990, Kodak employed more than 42,000 people. Xerox had more than 13,000 employees. 4,200 people worked at Bausch and Lomb.

In 2017, all three companies had a steep decline in employees over the 27-year period.

None of the 1990 "Big Three" are among the top three employers in the Rochester area today.

The University of Rochester is now the area's largest employer. Rochester Regional Health ranks at number two. Both companies have seen significant job growth over the past 27 years.

The third biggest employer in the Rochester area, Wegmans, saw its number of employees drop. However, since 1990, Wegmans included Chase-Pitkin hardware store employees in its figures in 2001. The hardware chain closed in 2006.
