Rochester City Council passes budget, confirms Singletary as RPD Chief

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)- The Rochester City Council had a packed agenda on Tuesday night, including authorizing a half-billion dollar budget and officially confirming the new Police Chief.

The 552 million dollar budget raises property taxes for the average homeowner by $50, but lowers taxes for local business by nearly $500. Mayor Lovely Warren says the budget focuses on creating more jobs, improving city neighborhods, and education. The budget passed 6-3.

Meanwhile, Rochester's interim Police Chief, La'Ron Singletary, was confirmed by City Council.

He'll begin his official capacity on July 1.
