ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —Dozens of local parents, students, and educators from Rochester are heading to Albany on Tuesday to rally for fair school funding.
The rally comes after the Rochester City School District cut nearly 100 teachers to help close a $64 million budget gap.
Those making the trip tell News10NBC that the state owes the school district roughly $86 million in foundation aid.
They argue the funding could have been used to pay the teacher's salaries.
Demonstrators are scheduled to speak with lawmakers in Albany at noon. The rally starts at 1 p.m.
