The Rochester community is going the extra mile to make sure everyone is warm this winter as the Coats for Seniors program is officially underway.
Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and others officially kicked it off on Wednesday.
The goal is to collect and then pass out winter coats which are donated to senior citizens in need throughout the county.
To date, the Monroe County Coats for Seniors program has collected over 10,000 coats.
"We want to make sure that all of our seniors remain safe, healthy, and protected from the winter elements," said Dinolfo. "Certainly a winter coat is a necessity when you live in upstate New York and Rochester as well."
The program accepts new and gently-used adult coats.
To donate you can drop them off at participating senior centers on weekdays, between 10 a.m and noon.
