Rochester couple arrested for catalytic converter theft

CICERO, N.Y. (WHEC) – New York State Police arrested a Rochester couple on June 22 for stealing a number of catalytic converters.

Police say that Brittany Hollaert, 25, and Vasiliy Maksimchuk, 31, stole a total of 17 catalytic converters that were parked at Driver’s Village Auto in Cicero, NY. The damage caused to the vehicles is estimated to be over $50,000. The two suspects were also involved in other similar thefts throughout the Rochester area.

They both face multiple felony charges, including grand larceny in the second degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, auto stripping in the first degree, and conspiracy in the fourth degree.

Hollaert was arraigned and issued appearance tickets to appear in the town of Cicero Court. Maksimchuk was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment.
