ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The spring sports season is right around the corner and if you’d like to be involved there’s a program looking for participants.

The Rochester District Umpires' Association is held a recruitment meeting on Tuesday night.

Those interested will go through clinics and training sessions, but the Rochester District Umpires' Association says keeping new umpires is about giving them room to grow within the sport.

"We try to elevate people quickly, and we learned over time and through other organizations that that's what retains people, not putting people down on the bottom row. Bringing them up real quick," RDUA Vice President Frank Padalino said.

No prior experience is needed to join.
