The Rochester Fire Department saved a group of little kittens on Thursday morning after a garage fire on Steko Avenue.

According to the RFD, fire crews arrived at the garage around 10:43 a.m. for heavy smoke and heat. Although the interior of the garage was damaged, it remained structurally intact, with most of the fire contained to a burning carpet.

After putting out the fire in less than 10 minutes, the firefighters were told that there were several kittens inside. RFD made re-entry to the garage and pulled out several kittens, and then provided medical attention to some that had inhaled some smoke.

It appears that all the kittens will survive. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
