The first three Frederick Douglass statues that will be placed around the Rochester area were unveiled Thursday.
The statues were unveiled at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance on North Plymouth Avenue where his funeral was held back in 1895.
One of the statues will be permanently be at Hochstein.
It's to commemorate his 200th birthday, which was celebrated back in February.
There will be 13 statues placed throughout the area, replicas of the one that currently stands in Highland Park.
The statues are the work of local sculptor Olivia Kim.
