Nick Tahou Hots, a popular restaurant in Rochester and home of the Garbage Plate, was broken into by some very young kids Tuesday morning.
Around 5 a.m., three kids pulled up on bikes to the back door of the restaurant, throwing rocks in order to shatter the glass.
After nearly four minutes of tossing rocks at the door, the kids finally managed to get inside. Restaurant owner Alex Tahou isn't shocked by the break-in, just of the age of the young culprits behind it.
“It’s just a sad, sad, view of what our economy and world are becoming,” said Tahou. “I mean if eight and 10-year-old kids are out at 5 a.m. on bicycles, where are the parents?”
Once inside, Tahou tells News10NBC the motion activated alarm went off. But before running away, one of the young culprits ran to the register to see if anything was inside.
After realizing it was empty, and not wanting to leave empty-handed, the kid then turned his sights to the Humane Society lollipops sitting on the counter.
The three took off before officers arrived.
Rochester Police confirm they are still investigating, however, this business owner isn't too concerned.
Tahou just hopes word gets back to the parents of the three responsible.
Anyone with information to asked contact the restaurant or Rochester Police.
