ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester man has been arrested and now faces sex trafficking and child pornography charges.

The U.S. Attorney says that 61-year-old Peter Kiwitt, who had previously been convicted in Monroe County on child porn possession charges, was seen in December 2018 driving with two women, one of them a minor. Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies interviewed them about possible drug-related activity and then followed them back to a motel in Penfield, where Kiwitt said he was dating the adult woman but knew she was a prostitute working with a pimp known to law enforcement.

On January 23, 2019, the Rochester Police Department found the minor dead of an overdose in a Rochester apartment. The owner of the apartment told police that he had met the girl through the adult woman that MCSO had seen in December, and admitted that the night before he had had "commercial sex acts" with the girl.

An investigation found that the adult woman, the girl and Kiwitt had had conversations on cell phones and Facebook that regarded prostitution, as well as naked photos, some of them being child porn.

If convicted, Kiwitt could face at least 10 years in prison and up to life in prison, as well as a $250,000 fine.
