Rochester man convicted for holding teen against their will

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- A Rochester man is facing up to 25 years in prison after kidnapping and holding a teen against their will. 

Joel Clavijo, 33, was convicted on one count of kidnapping in the second degree.

In September of 2018, the Monroe County District Attorney's Office say Clavijo held a 17-year-old against their will at his home on North Goodman Street in the city. 

After accusing the teen of stealing, Clavijo zip-tied him in the back room of his property and threatened his life with a weapon. 

The 17-year-old was held for roughly five hours before police found him and arrested Clavijo. 

Clavijo is scheduled to be sentenced in August.
