Rochester residents take a closer look at their family trees

Admirers of Rochester icon Frederick Douglass are talking trees, family trees.

On Saturday, the Rochester Museum and Science Center hosted a special program looking at Douglass's life but also at the exciting work of two Rochester families.

The Spragues and the Coles went over their own family history, their search for their ancestors and their exploration of Douglass' history.

Frederick Douglass himself showed up, played by reenactor David Shakes.

Guests were encouraged to build their own family trees in a lesson on family history.
