January 29, 2019 04:03 PM

Lovely Ann Warren was born in Rochester in 1971 and is a proud graduate of Wilson Magnet High School.

She earned her Juris Doctorate from the Albany Law School of Union University and became President of the Rochester Black Bar Association.

Warren first made history in 2010 when she was elected as the youngest President of the Rochester City Council.

On Jan. 2, 2014, Warren was sworn in as Rochester’s 67th mayor. She is the first female and second African-American mayor in the city’s history. Warren was re-elected in 2017.

Her work in government has been recognized with RBJ’s “40 Under 40” award and a Black Heritage Pioneer Award.

Mayor Lovely Warren is a part of our Rochester Roots.
