ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — As more voting results trickle in from members of the United Auto Workers union across the country, local union members struck down a deal that could end the strike against General Motors.

Members of UAW Local 1097 voted Tuesday. More than 80% voted against the new four-year-contract, but other chapters still have to cast ballots.

Voting wraps up on Friday, Oct. 25 with the final tally to be released that evening.

The UAW strike began Sept. 16 and has cost GM an estimated $2 billion. Workers are still picketing outside the GM plant on Lexington Avenue near Mount Read Boulevard.

As of Wednesday morning, the deal was winning by more than 1,000 votes, according to an Automotive News tally.
