Rochester area young people are demanding fairer treatment for students, and more money for schools.
Citizen Action of New York sponsored a march in downtown Saturday morning.
Activists say schools across the state don't get enough funding and can end up as the first stop for young people who end up in prison.
A state court verdict has ordered that schools in New York's cities get more funding but state school budgets still fall short of that order.
Some Albany watchers say a new State Senate, dominated by Democrats, could send more money to schools and the protesters say they'll demand it.
Saturday's protesters are already planning to take their demands to Albany.
They'll rally, and lobby, at the state capitol for more money for schools on January 14.
