ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —  News10NBC celebrates Black History Month by honoring the people and places that have paved the way for many in the Rochester area.

Anthony Jordan wasn't the first African American doctor in Rochester, but he was a strong second.

Called the "doctor who would come," Jordan served patients both on house calls and out of his Adam Street home, accepting barter when patients insisted on paying him.

In honor of his civic-mindedness, the Rochester Neighborhood Health Center dedicated a center to him in 1973, and it still serves thousands of people in this community.
