Rochester’s Roots: Danielle Ponder

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC celebrates Black History Month by honoring the people and places that have paved the way for many in the Rochester area.

Danielle Ponder has made a name for herself for her musical talent and advocacy.

Ponder and her band have sold out shows in her hometown and opened up for artists like George Clinton and the Roots.

Ponder joined the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office as an attorney in 2013 before leaving to pursue music full-time. She rejoined in 2020 in a new position as the diversity and inclusion officer.

She is also an active voice in the Black Lives Matter Movement.
