Rochester's Roots: The longest-running black business in the city

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Laying a loved one to rest is no easy task.

At Millard E. Latimer & Son Funeral Directors, Inc. they've been taking on that difficult job since 1922 with compassion and professionalism.


Started by Millard E. Latimer, the funeral home has earned the title of the longest-running black business in the city.

The first location was on Clarissa Street, and in the 1960s, they moved to Plymouth Avenue.

The business became incorporated in 1963. Millard Jr. is president. and Monique Latimer is the manager of operations.

Since they opened, they have serviced thousands of Rochester families.
