An emotional return home Sunday afternoon for veterans from the greater Rochester area.

Family, friends and other members of the military greeted vets who served in the World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and other eras after the very first Rochester Honor Flight of this year. Fifty-six men and women were apart of this weekend's round trip.

Veterans say taking on this opportunity is one of the best things those who have served could do.

"Words can not describe it. It's something I think any veteran that served, whether you had a gun or had a pencil. It's something you earned. You earned the defense of the country and it's something for you to do," said Stewart Blume a  U.S. Navy veteran.

Honor Flight Rochester is celebrating its 10th year of flying veterans from the greater Rochester area to Washington D.C.
