CHURCHVILLE, N.Y. (WHEC) — "A smart player, I like to pick my shots and keep the team involved," says Churchville-Chili senior John Keele.

A self-described team player, John Keele hopes to lead the Churchville-Chili boys basketball team to a familiar place.

A Sectional championship would be a first for the Saints basketball team, but John helped the volleyball team to consecutive Sectional titles.

"It was a lot of fun, that team was a special team," John said. "It was really cool to have the school come out and support us. In the Sectional final vs Spencerport we had a huge student section and it really helped us when they showed up because the noise in the gym helped us out."

Next year, John plans to study mechanical engineering in college, but his high school sports career will continue in the spring, he's also on the Churchville-Chili golf team.

"Normally in the beginning of the year there's snow in the sand traps and you have to wear a ton of layers to play," John said.

And for John's sake, hopefully, the winter sports season goes longer than planned because of wins on the court.

Congratulations John Keele, the News10NBC Scholar-Athlete of the Week!
