PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) — She has so many state championship patches that they don't all fit on her varsity jacket.  Pittsford Mendon senior Megan Deuel has as many Section V records as years in high school.

"My freshman year I was on a relay team that won States and that was my first state title and they were state record holders that I was swimming with and that moment, winning my first state title was really special," Megan said.

There have been countless special moments to follow for the three-time Section V Swimmer of the Year.

A multiple-time All-American, Megan won 16 Section V titles, 12 state titles and this year she qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials.

"It's always been a dream of mine to make the Trials ever since I was a little kid and it didn't really become a reality until the 2020 cuts came out and they were a few 10th off my best time and I thought, wow, I can do this."

Megan recently finished second at Nationals and is also a member of the National Honor Society.

"It was really cool,” Megan said. “School has always been really important to me and to see it pay off is good."

Next year she will swim at Notre Dame, congratulations Megan Deuel, the News10NBC Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
