The Rochester school board has ruled out receivership options for School 41.
The state Department of Education says the school has failed to improve academic performance.
While it was not a binding vote, the school board is now planning to close the school and re-open a new school in its place with a brand new opportunity for students by September 2018.
"There are some challenges we have as a district," says Van White. "What are the causes of that? We have the largest concentration of childhood poverty in New York State. But personally, I'm not sweating someone else's assessment of our district."
