ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Second Annual Black Culture Festival kicked off Friday night in Rochester and there’s still one more day to celebrate black music, food, art, literature, dance and accomplishments.

The festival at Parcel 5 is free to attend.

Friday night was the youth talent showcase.

Saturday there will be a dance battle, poets, comedians and DJs; and vendors, food trucks and bounce houses for children will be back.

Organizers say the festival was supposed to be a one-time-only event, but the community wanted more.

"It started last year as a thought and this year we kind of went off the same thought and we put it together because we wanted to celebrate the wins and gains of Black people in America so that’s why we put it together," said organizer Will Powers.

The festival is from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Free parking is available Saturday at the Mortimer Garage at 83 Mortimer St. near South Clinton Avenue and the Washington Square Garage at 111 Woodbury Blvd.
