Sentencing delayed for man once named suspect in Brittanee Drexel case

There has been an unexpected sentencing delay in the federal robbery case of the man once named as suspect in the 2009 death and disappearance of a 17-year-old Chili teen.

Timothy Da’Shaun Taylor’s attorney Mark Peper confirmed to News10NBC Taylor’s sentencing will be delayed by at least six weeks due to a matter of law.

Brittanee Drexel disappeared in 2009 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In 2016, an FBI agent testified that Taylor had been accused in connection with Drexel’s disappearance by a jailhouse informant. The informant told agents that he had seen Drexel and Taylor at a stash house in McClellanville, South Carolina, a few days after her disappearance in Myrtle Beach.

The FBI says based on the informant’s testimony, it believes Drexel was taken to the home in McClellanville, raped, murdered, then dumped in an alligator pit.

Taylor was never charged in Drexel’s death. News10NBC spoke with Taylor in 2016 — watch that interview here.

Taylor faces a sentence of 10 to 20 years in the robbery case plea.
