ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Seven people died from an opioid overdose last month in Monroe County, the same as the August total for last year.
Although the number of deaths was steady, the total number of overdoses overall was lower, from 92 in August 2018 to 76 of August this year.
So far in 2019, 559 people have overdosed and 82 of them died.
The Heroin Task Force releases numbers on deaths and overdoses every month to bring awareness to the opioid crisis.
