Victim's family searches for answers

A local family is searching for answers after a Rochester man was shot and killed 10 days after his 23rd birthday.

Family and friends of Tasmere Kenard gathered at a vigil on Saturday afternoon, near the scene of the shooting. Kenard was shot early Friday morning on Lyell Ave near Whitney St in Rochester.

Kenard’s uncle Carl Canty,  tells News10NBC his nephew had just finished a shift at a local pizza parlor when he was shot.

“He was caring, giving, he was young...I mean he made a couple choices that weren't good, but he was on the right path. He was working" Carl Canty said.

Canty tells news10nbc that police have clear surveillance video of what happened to Kenard and he's hoping that will lead them to the person who killed his nephew.

Police have not named any suspects and made no arrests in this case.

Tasmere kenard leaves behind a loving family and also has a baby on the way.

The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
