Starting Thursday, Wegmans shoppers no longer required to wear mask

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester-based grocery store is planning to go along with Gov. Hochul’s recent decision to lift the state’s mask mandate.

Shoppers at Wegmans will no longer be required to wear a mask inside stores, starting as soon as Thursday, February 10.

"Following Governor Hochul’s lifting of the mask mandate, starting tomorrow 2/10, customers are no longer required to wear a mask while shopping in our stores," Wegmans said in a brief statement on the situation.

Since the mask mandate began, mask wearing in the grocery store chain has been a hot topic as some customers refused to follow the rules. Now, their policy is changing.
