State of emergency declared in Orleans County due to rising lake levels

ALBION, N.Y. (WHEC) — A state of emergency has been declared for Orleans County due to potential flooding from the rising waters of Lake Ontario.

The state of emergency goes into effect at 11:30 a.m. Monday.

County officials say there has been minimal flooding impacting low-lying areas based on wind and water levels. The order is a precautionary measure and that there is no immediate threat to public safety. 

Earlier this month, Monroe County declared a state of emergency, along with several communities in Wayne County.
