State Police arrest Ontario County man for attempted rape of 12-year-old

New York State Police have arrested an Ontario County man they say was planning to have sex with a 12-year-old girl.

According to the State Police, 36-year-old Shortsville resident Scott A. Castle was arrested on Friday when he traveled to Dansville, where authorities say he was planning to have sexual conduct with the 12-year-old. The arrest was made before Castle could make contact with the victim.

Castle is facing charges of Attempted Rape, Attempted Criminal Sex Act, and Attempted Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors, all felonies. He was arraigned before the village of Dansville Court and then sent to the Livingston County Jail on $40,000 bail or $80,000 bond. 

The Dansville Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security aided in the investigation.
