UPDATE: Western New York man wanted in 4 counties taken into custody

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man wanted in four counties in western New York is now in police custody after being on the run. 

State police were chasing Edward Bancroft, 31, of Angelica, when he crashed a stolen ATV in the town of Eagle and ran into the woods. Troopers, conservation police, and Wyoming County deputies searched for Bankcroft, but never found him.

Since then, troopers pursued Bancroft who was driving a stolen truck in the town of Ossian. He again fled on foot. 

Bancroft is wanted for stealing cars in Allegany, Livingston, Steuben and Wyoming counties. He's also wanted for arson in Allegany County.

Investigators did not say where Bancroft was located Thursday.
