A bill to make sure school sex abuse cases get reported to police awaits Governor Cuomo's signature.
The measure, passed by the Assembly and Senate, would require private schools to report cases of sex abuse involving teachers or staff to police.
The Albany Times Union reports the move would give private schools the same requirements that public schools have had for nearly 20 years.
Senator Patrick Gallivan, who's district covers parts of Monroe and Livingston county, sponsored the bill in the state Senate.
