ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York State Sen. Rich Funke will not be seeking another term in office in 2020.

Funke, who currently represents the 55th District for the State Senate, announced his decision in a video on Tuesday morning.

"The Bible says that for everything in life there is a season," Funke said. "There's a time to begin and a time to end, and I've always believed that. I also believe in term limits, so I will end my time in elected office next year on my own terms."

The Republican is finishing his third term in the state Senate.

He was first elected in November 2014 and serves as the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks & Recreation.

Last week, State Sen. Joe Robach announced that he will not be seeking another term in office in 2020.
