ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — East High School star Seven McGee will remain ineligible to play football this season.
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) upheld Section V's decision.
McGee is considered one of the best high school football prospects in the state.
He was ruled ineligible because of a rule violation. Earlier this year, he transferred to a top football school in California but came back to Rochester months later, citing unsafe living conditions.
"We received word on Thursday that NYSPHSAA upheld the Section V decision with regards to Seven McGee’s hardship waiver," Superintendent Dr. Shaun Helms said in a statement. "We continue to pursue the case on Seven’s behalf to create this opportunity for him and to continue an important discussion of the way the rules and rule-makers may not fully understand the complexities of the lives and choices some of our young people face.”
