Rochester's 'Super Six' skiers recognized by Sen. Funke

There are approximately 430 ski mountains in the United States. From that massive list, only 29 individual athletes are selected to the U.S. Ski Team. Out of those 29 athletes, roughly a fifth are from the Greater Rochester area.

Dubbed the Super Six, these local phenoms were honored for their accomplishments on Wednesday with an official proclamation by Senator Rich Funke. Chris Lillis, Jon Lillis, Morgan Schild, Harrison Smith, Patrick O'Flynn, and Dylan Walczyk are all athletes who began their training at Bristol Mountain.

They're already on the National Team, but now, all six are attempting to qualify for the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics.

"People that ski at Bristol absolutely love to ski," Morgan Schild tells News10NBC. "They go out there every weekend in the rain, in the sleet, because they love that sport. That's actually where I learned my love for the sport, and I still carry that with me to this day.

"Whether I'm in China or Utah skiing, I like to think back and think that I'm lucky enough to do this and do what I love because I learned it at such a young age."
