SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (WHEC)— Investigators are looking into what they’re calling a "suspicious" house fire in Seneca County Saturday morning.

Several crews from around the area went to the home on County House Road in Seneca Falls around 10:30 a.m. for a call of smoke coming from a basement. When they got there, firefighters found a fire in the basement.

A juvenile inside the home at the time of the fire was taken to Geneva General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters say surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution but it was determined that the scene was safe and there was no actual hazard. The road was shut down for several hours.

The Red Cross is helping out the family.
