This Thanksgiving, thousands of food boxes will be delivered to local families in need.

Businesses in the community volunteered to put the boxes together with a variety of food items like gravy, canned vegetables and dessert mix -- along with a $25 gift card to a local grocery store.

The boxes were dropped off on Friday. It's part of the Small Business Council of Rochester's "SBC Cares" Initiative.

Greg Miller, the chair of SBC Cares Committee, tells us, "It's a great need in our community where families have other challenges where they have a hard time putting a nice meal together so over the years. This is about our 22nd year, I believe, doing this so and all the organizations love it. They seek us out every year saying please keep us on the list."

Our crew at News10NBC took part in putting some of the food boxes together. There are around 3,000 boxes total that will be delivered to families.
