Two people are behind bars in connection to the death of a young girl who drowned in the Erie Canal in Greece.

Police say 25-year-old Laura McCasland, of Texas, and 23-year-old Tyler Kanaley, of California, were high on marijuana when six-year-old Aliyah Williams disappeared from Henpeck Park around 7 p.m. Thursday. Her body was found in the canal two hours later.

Officers say Kanaley is Aliyah's cousin and was supposed to be watching her.

Police say they found 31 pounds of pot at the home where Kanaley and McCasland were staying.

McCasland and Kanaley are both being held in the Monroe County Jail on felony drug charges. If convicted, they each face 5 to 15 years in prison.

McCasland's bail is set at $30,000 cash or $60,000 bond while bail for Kanaley is set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

Both are due back in court on July 26 at noon.
