One year after an investigation into sexual harassment claims against a University of Rochester professor, the school president has issued a message to the community.

In a report titled "Culture of Respect: One-Year Anniversary," President Richard Feldman focuses on the progress the U of R has taken to strengthen "Rochester's Culture of Respect" and promote equity and inclusion.

"We are working toward creating lasting, cultural change; a campus climate built on respect and other values that are understood by all members of the community and that guide our practice," Feldman said.

The U of R added new guides to explain procedures for addressing misconduct and updated other policies.

Feldman also said the university "must continue to work to identify and address challenges within the organization related to diversity, equity, and inclusion."

Last year's independent investigation found the professor accused of misconduct did act inappropriately, but he did not violate university rules at the time.
