U.S. Senate to debate over two voting bills today

DISTRICT of COLUMBIA (WHEC) — Lawmakers in Washington D.C. are debating Tuesday over whether or not two voting bills should be passed.

The Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Right Advancement Act both look to make access to the ballot box more open, protect election officials, and raise the bar for states with recent histories of refusing to change certain voting laws.

This comes after civil rights leaders urged senators to change the rules in the midst of a filibuster by Republicans.
