ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A local man is getting some well-deserved recognition after serving at the United States Postal Service in Rochester for 55 years.

Marvin Raphael received a USPS service award in front of family and friends during his shift Tuesday night.

He began working for the postal service back in 1964; when stamps were just 5 cents and employees earned roughly $2.25 per hour.

His first assignment was as a distribution clerk. In 1987 he was promoted to review clerk, a position he still holds today.

Raphael tells News10NBC his secret success is to take it one day at a time.

"My doctor told me, don’t worry about tomorrow; it hasn’t come. Don’t worry about yesterday, it's passed. Take it one day at a time,” Raphael said.

He loves his job and has no plans to leave.

Congratulations, Marvin Raphael!
