News10NBC learned the identity of one of the victims in the Waterloo shooting that killed two and left another injured.
The daughter of the woman shot and killed on Tuesday night confirmed to News10NBC that Lori McConnell was a victim in the triple shooting that happened on Virginia Street.
News10NBC spoke with two of McConnell's children about their mother's death.
"There could have been more done," stated Lora Bennett, victim's daughter. She added, "the bench warrant that was supposed to be put on him...wasn’t put on him because the judge denied it. That could have saved my mom..."
“We have a problem with social media. Social media as in the fact that one of the victims' posted where my mom was going to be," stated Matthew VanDoren, victim's son. "One hour and 15 minutes later my mom was dead. If you know there’s somebody looking for you don’t post where you're going to be.”
Troopers say 48-year-old Emerson Tohafjian ambushed two women who got dropped off by a cab around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after a night out. One of the women and another man who was also at the apartment on Virginia Street at the time were killed. The third victim, who called 911, has been released from the hospital.
Tohafjian was captured hours later at a campground in Phelps.
News10NBC also learned that he has a lengthy criminal history with two recent arrests that have people questioning why he wasn't in custody.
News10NBC Investigative Reporter Jennifer Lewke dug into Emerson Tohafjian’s extensive criminal history and spoke with the Judge who set the $10,000 bail on the felony rape charge.
Investigators say Tohafjian remains in stable condition at Strong Hospital after suffering self-inflicted cuts. They say he will face a judge to answer to charges once he's discharged.
